Introducing Motorola's SURFboard
SB4100 series external cable modem, surfing the Internet keeps
getting better and better. In September 2000, the newest addition of
Motorola's SURFboard SB4100 series cable modems became a member of
our family of cable modem products.
The Motorola SURFboard SB4100
offers:
USB network connectivity!
The SB4100 supplies both Ethernet and USB interface connectivity to
ensure compatibility with almost any PC network-ready computer
system. It's no longer necessary to open your PC and install a
standard Ethernet card!
Enhanced security! A front
standby switch has been added for additional end-user security.
Accessibility of software
upgrades via networks! No longer will it be necessary to purchase
additional software, just simply - and quickly - download
software upgrades over the network at your leisure. There's one way
to reduce the clutter on your desk!
Same enhanced features as the
SB3100 series cable modems! The SB4100 also includes all of the
features of the SB3100 cable modems such as astonishing speed,
high-performance processors, operator-friendly diagnostics,
incredible reliability, and so on!
The
SURFboard SB4100 series cable modems require only a standard HTML
browser in your computer, making them virtually platform
independent. With the SB4100, most PCs, Macs, and other computers
can be easily connected to any DOCSIS
network. The SB4100 continues to support the 64 and 256 QAM link
technology that is the heart of the DOCSIS data network, providing up
to 38 Mbps of raw data transfer rates in a single 6 MHz channel.
The Motorola SURFboard SB4100
truly makes plug-and-play a reality! The SB4100 simplifies
installation with the new USB connectivity, and provides enhanced
security with its front panel standby switch. The switch disconnects
the USB and Ethernet connection to the computer without disconnecting
the cable modem from the RF network, providing security, flexibility
and performance. Installation couldn't be simpler just follow three
easy steps!
As with the previous
SURFboard cable modems models, the SB4100 has the ability to support
multiple users, and is absolutely ideal for a small business or
home network. The SURFboard cable modem is completely compatible with
Windows 95/98/2000/NT/2000/ME, Macs, and UNIX computer systems.
No extra telephone line is
required and upstream and downstream speeds are incredibly fast
since all data goes through the cable. There's no dial-up with a
cable modem because it's always on, and you're always
connected! So, say goodbye to busy signals, and late nights
downloading Internet homework information. Get into the cable
pipeline for high-speed Internet access now!
Motorola's SURFboard external cable
modems talk directly to the equipment at your cable service
provider's headend, so you are not required to do any setup. The
SB4100 allows the cable provider to monitor both the cable modem and
the data signals coming in and out of the unit, which can be
invaluable in diagnosing network problems.
Note: A service account with cable internet service provider is required to use this product. Check with your local cable company to ensure service is available in your area before purchasing this modem.
